National Electrical Contractors Association

    Over the last 25 years, some of the largest Electrical Contractors  in the United States have emerged from the Santa Clara Valley Chapter of NECA.  Along with these big players, the mid-size and small contractors have benefited from affiliation with the National Electrical Contractors Association and have access to the most talented and highly qualified workforce that is the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 332.  Contractors in the Electrical Industry who belong to the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) are Union Contractors.

   In days gone by, being a union contractor might have been a cliche. In these days, it is a necessity, for one simple reason - Union Workers are the best trained in the Electrical Industry.  The Contractors and Membership of IBEW Local 332 contribute to the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee that provides balanced training for the various classifications of Apprentices. NECA and IBEW co-sponsor the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee formed in 1941.

   NECA was founded in 1901, just 22 years after Thomas Edison invented the light bulb. The National Electrical Contractors Association includes more than 4,000 electrical contractors worldwide. Members come from 188 different Chapters in the United States as well as foreign affiliates.

   NECA members operate in the electrical sector (Standard Industrial Code 17301) and utility sector (SIC 1623). They are specialty contractors and oversee utility line work.

    Local Chapter Managers, assisted by staff from NECA’s National Office and field staff, negotiate and administrate labor agreements with local unions of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers

   At all levels, NECA staffers provide non-labor-relations type services to contractors, including detailed publications and workshops in virtually every aspect of the electrical construction industry.
