Firefighter Safety Training

San Jose, CA - Gunderson High School - August 05, 2009 - IBEW Local 332 hosted a Training Class taught by Matt Paiss with Nobody Gets Left Behind Training Group, San Jose Firefighter Engineer and Solar Specialist at the IBEW 332 Meeting Hall. Matt teaches with the group 'Nobody Gets Left Behind' and, with sponsorship from the City of San Jose, Solar America City Program, Silicon Valley Energy Watch, and IBEW Local 332, Matt taught 2 days of solar photovoltaic safety training for close to 80 firefighters from all over California.
Solar photovoltaic systems are being installed gaining popularity, with more home and business owners putting systems on their homes and businesses. Firefighters are receiving training to help them work around systems safely. Solar photovoltaic systems can provide unique hazards to emergency personnel. Training for those responding to emergencies is important, as photovoltaic systems on roof tops change the way firefighters fight fires. This training partnership will serve as an example for other areas.
